My name is Cole Mueller. I’m a writer and director based in Los Angeles focused on telling stories across multiple mediums while utilizing new technology.

I graduated from the USC School of Cinematic Arts and have been making movies, television, and commercials ever since. No matter what I’m shooting, I always push myself to achieve something unique, creative, and hopefully entertaining. I have a huge passion for storytelling, but also for visual effects, and have tried to blend the two in my work as much as possible. I want to create, dream, and collaborate with creative people.

I also love coffee, cocktails, and have 2 little girls.

I spend a long time on my commercial briefs; days and sometimes weeks. I try to attack the idea from a new angle, and come up with something that hasn’t been done before. I remember watching the BMW commercials with Clive Owen and thinking “wait you can turn a commercial into an entire movie?” I was really inspired by that series and that’s the kind of commercial work I strive to do.

Television

I am constantly writing treatments for television shows. Most recently, I produced and directed two episodes of my own series titled “Limited Edition” which secured distribution through Buffalo 8 Productions and had a really nice run on the festival circuit. That series premiered at the Dances With Films Festival to a sold out crowd at the world famous Chinese Theater in Hollywood.

Film

I currently own and operate the production company FILMKID where we are developing feature films in a number of genres and plan to go into production on our next feature in the spring of 2024. Film is where my heart is. Like most filmmakers, I dream of making something as good as a Scorsese or Coppola epic.

Commercials

I have worked on all types of different commercials, at various budget levels, and for brands all over the world through my commercial production company Vitascope Arts. I always approach the brief from a storytellers perspective while utilizing visual effects in new and interesting ways.

I started making movies when I was really young. I would get my little brother to be my actor and shoot a sci-fi epic in our horse corral. Lately, I’ve been trying to get back to that place, of doing it for the joy of making something, without the thought of limitations. If you can work from that headspace, you can create some really incredible things.
